Brightening Specific Areas

Selet your image.

I chose this image of a chalk rainbow because i though it needed a bit more contrast.

Duplicate your layer by pressing <Command> "J"

Make your selection of the area you would like to brighten.

Use the saturation setting to adjust the saturation if you need the colors to show up better and use the lighting setting to brighten the colors for contrast.

And here you have it.
